OWI in Michigan
In Michigan, the major drunk driving offense is called Operating While Intoxicated, or OWI for short. There are also others, such as Operating While Visibly Impaired (OWVI) and Operating Under the Influence of Drugs (OUID).

You might have heard drunk driving crimes referred to as DUIs or OUIs. Other states call their drunk driving crimes DUI (Driving Under the Influence) or OUI (Operating Under the Influence). However, even though these terms are no longer used in the Michigan drunk driving laws, many people still use them and any experienced Michigan drunk driving lawyer would know what they mean.

Penalties for OWI
The penalties for most drunk driving offenses depend on a number of factors, such as whether this is your first drunk driving offense. If you are convicted, you could face jail or prison time, multiple hours of community service, hefty fines, vehicle immobilization, installation of an ignition interlock system, driver’s license restrictions, driver’s license suspension, driver’s license revocation, mandatory breath or urine tests, and a misdemeanor or felony on your criminal record.

How we fight for you
Too many people find the cheapest attorney to represent them in their OWI case. The problem with that is that when it comes to attorneys, you get what you pay for! We have been doing drunk driving defense for so long that we know the tricks of the trade. We won’t just collect a fee and try to get you to plead guilty if we don’t think that is in your best interests. We fight for you!

One of the things we may argue is that your constitutional rights were breached by the police officer during your roadside stop. That could mean that the officer did not have the proper reasonable suspicion to pull you over in the first place. It could also mean that the officer improperly administered your breath or blood tests. If we find any sort of violation of your constitutional rights, you had better believe we will fight your drunk driving charge!
