Under 21 DUI Charges in Lansing, Michigan

OUI (operating under the influence) of alcohol by a minor: According to Michigan’s Zero Tolerance law, a driver under the age of 21 may not operate a motor vehicle with “any bodily alcohol content”, which is more specifically defined as a blood alcohol concentration of .02% to less than .08%. When a minor operates a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol or breath alcohol level of .02% or higher, he or she may face the up to $500 in fines and up to 360 hours of community service. When a minor operates a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration of .08% or greater, the underage driver is likely to face OWI (operating while intoxicated) charges. The only exception to the Zero Tolerance law is if a minor has the presence of alcohol in his or her system due to a recognized religious service.
